A search is underway for Yolanda Marodi, a Southern California woman who officials are saying is the primary suspect in the murder of her wife, San Diego Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi. The suspect had pleaded guilty previously to killing her first spouse more than a decade ago.

Rebecca Marodi, 49, a captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), was found at her Ramona residence with multiple stab wounds on the night of Feb. 17, after deputies responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Yolanda Marodi, who is suspected in the slaying of her wife, a Cal Fire captain, pleaded guilty in 2004 to voluntary manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of her then-husband.

A suspect in the fatal stabbing of a Cal Fire captain in San Diego County was identified Thursday by law enforcement officials, who confirmed she previously served time in state prison for voluntary manslaughter in connection with another killing.

New details have emerged as the San Diego County Superior Court has issued an arrest warrant for Yolanda Marodi, the wife of Cal Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi, who was killed at her home on Feb. 17. According to the arrest warrant, approximately one week before the incident, Rebecca told Yolanda that she was leaving her and ending their marriage.

Rebecca Marodi, a Cal Fire captain stationed in Riverside County, was found stabbed to death inside of her own home in Ramona on Monday evening, authorities said.

Rebecca Marodi was found in her San Diego-area home Monday. A woman has been identified as a suspect in her slaying, but her whereabouts are unknown.
