In his exuberance, Icarus defies Daedalus’s warning not to fly too close to the sun. His wings melt and he plummets to his death. With heavy heart, Daedalus completes the flight, landing in Sicily.

Daedalus safely reached Sicily, but Icarus, exulting in his new-found abilities, flew too close to the sun; the wax melted and he fell to his death in the sea.

Theatrical Performance Icarus will be staged at Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Art centre on 31 December. Directed by Ahmed Ezzat Elalfy, the play tells the famous story of Icarus.
