Afghan spinner Allah Ghazanfar has been sidelined for four months due to a lower back fracture from an injury in Zimbabwe. Additionally, India and Mumbai Indians' Jasprit Bumrah is ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to a back injury.

Ghazanfar’s absence presents a significant challenge for Mumbai Indians, a team that has historically relied on a strong spin contingent to complement their pace attack.

Mumbai Indians’ Afghanistan spin sensation Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out of action for up to four months, leaving the youngster out of the Champions Trophy tournament that is slated to begin next week in Pakistan.

The IPL is scheduled to take place from March 21 to May 25 and Ghazanfar was to make his maiden appearance at the event after being bought by Mumbai Indians.

Afghanistan are also without Mujeeb Ur Rahman at the Champions Trophy, though he played the entire SA20 for Paarl Royals

The Afghanistan Cricket Board, which tweeted out the news on Wednesday morning, said that Allah Ghazanfar sustained the injury during the tour of Zimbabwe in 2024 and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this period.
