Sunrise on the Reaping faces a unique challenge as it nears production on the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ newest Hunger Games prequel novel. Set roughly 25 years before the events of the original trilogy and 40 years after Collins’ first prequel,

“Sunrise on the Reaping,” which is based on the 2025 novel of the same name, is set 24 years before the first “Hunger Games” movie. Because it centers on a young Haymitch, most fans assumed that Harrelson would not be involved with the film.
