Fireworks, objects and missiles were aimed at the public, officers and traffic with chaos breaking out in Niddrie, Calder Road, Gracemount and Moredun - terrifying locals.

Police Scotland have said their criminal investigations into disorder have begun after large groups of youths threw fireworks and other projectiles at officers,

Officers have been given powers to help prevent disorder during a Bonfire Night which has seen fireworks thrown at police.

Police officers clashed with large groups throwing fireworks, bottles and bricks and emergency service vehicles and cars. Police Scotland said the force responded to 18 incidents on Tuesday evening as part of Operation Moonbeam. Police said they had responded to “youth disorder” in the Niddrie, Sighthill and Moredun areas of Edinburgh.
