Sweden's Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that Greta Thunberg and hundreds of other activists cannot proceed with a class action lawsuit that had sought to force the state to take stronger action against climate change.

Sweden's Supreme Court dismissed a class action lawsuit filed in the name of some 300 people, including climate activist Greta Thunberg, but did not rule out trying a climate case if it were filed by an association.

The country’s Supreme Court says it can’t force governments to cut emissions. But it left the door open to other climate claims.
