RCMP in Sackville are working to bring back Block Parents, a child safety program whose red-and-white signs were once a common sight in Canadian neighbourhoods.

Block Parent, a popular crime prevention program years ago, might come back to the Hamilton area with the help of a residents rallying to tackle child safety issues in the community.

But the program is in decline across the country. In 1995, there were over 250,000 block parents compared to about 25,000 today.
