Joseph Sirosh, corporate vice president of Microsoft Data Group, described Azure Cosmos DB as “the industry’s first globally-distributed, multi-model database service,” in a May 10 blog post.

The database also has a flavor of P ostgreSQL. Last year at Build, Microsoft had introduced vector search to Cosmos DB, building on the company’s Cosmos DB for MongoDB vCore service.

The tool integrates with Cosmos DB, a NoSQL-type database service used to store data for Azure-hosted applications by thousands of organizations, including many Fortune 500 companies.
