Burmese pythons, which can grow more than six-metres long, were brought to South Florida as pets in the late 1970s. They were released into the wild, and have become a problematic invasive species.

RCMP said the Campbellton python measured between 3.5 and 4.5 metres, and weighed approximately 45 kg. Officials have euthanized the snake.
