Many 3D printed family homes — including Icon's previous builds — are single-story, with the only printed components being its walls. The rest of the house has to be built traditionally.

ICON, which builds homes using 3D printing, has closed on $56 million in Series C funding co-led by Norwest Venture Partners and Tiger Global, the company has confirmed to TechCrunch exclusively.

Icon has already built up a diverse portfolio of 3D-printed developments from a 2,000-square-foot luxury home to a luxury camping ("glamping") property with printed hotel rooms, homes, and a spa.
