ADFS (Federation) is big enterprise tech and most of the functionality is now available in Azure AD Connect. So that is at least 4 options you can discard. The current best option is Azure AD Connect.

Microsoft also kicked off a public preview for Azure File Sync last week. Azure File Sync is meant to keep Azure File share in-sync with customers' on-premises WIndows Servers.
