After his seven-wicket match-haul that helped Bengal defeat Madhya Pradesh in Indore and collect their first win in the Ranji Trophy, Shami will be hoping to impress in India’s premier domestic T20 event that gets underway this Saturday.

Mohammed Shami will represent Bengal in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, as announced in the squad released by the Cricket Association of Bengal on Monday.

Star Indian cricket team pacer, Mohammed Shami, shone for Bengal upon his return from a long-term injury, helping the side win a crucial Ranji Trophy encounter versus Madhya Pradesh. Bengal beat MP by 11 runs.

Mohammed Shami proved once again that he was regaining fitness as he bowled an 11-over spell in Madhya Pradesh’s second innings in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match on Friday.

Besides his bowling exploits of 7/156 in the match, Shami also registered his highest First-Class score for Bengal, knocking a quickfire 36-ball 37 in the second innings.

Suryakumar Yadav has not been included in the Mumbai squad, as he reportedly won't be available for the first few matches due to personal reasons.

Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the 17-member Mumbai squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, to be played from November 23 to December 15. The squad also features Ajinkya Rahane who has been captaining Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy with the first half of the competition ending recently,
