Severe storms ripped across parts of Missouri on Friday as this father and son stopped for gas to find themselves in the middle of a possible tornado. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the storm had caused significant damage in the area of Rolla,

Several states throughout the Midwest and South reported tornadoes overnight, with widespread damage and multiple fatalities reported in Missouri. KSDK's Megan Kernan and Travis Cummings report on the latest damage.

"The scale of devastation across our state is staggering," Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe said. "While we grieve the lives of those lost, we are also focused on action."

At least 26 people have been killed in a monster storm sweeping across much of the U.S. People were killed in tornadoes in Missouri and in a Kansas dust storm.
