Unretired NFL edge rusher Shaquil Barrett is returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After Barrett, whom the Miami Dolphins waived from the reserve/retired list Thursday, cleared waivers Friday, he agreed to sign with Buccaneers, according to multiple reports.

“We appreciate the Dolphins giving Shaq this opportunity to continue his career in the NFL,” Barrett’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said in a statement, via Schefter’s X (formerly Twitter) account. “Hopefully he will pass through waivers and become a free agent, so he can play again this season.

With Tampa Bay’s defense burdened with multiple injuries throughout this season, Barrett hopes to be a key factor as the Bucs attempt a playoff push over the final two games. The Bucs face the Panthers on Sunday, while the Falcons will play the Commanders.
