There are several notable races and issues on the ballot in Hamilton County this election. From the historic prosecutor's race to the competitive sheriff's race and commissioner's races, there's plenty to watch for.

With nearly all precincts reporting late Tuesday night, Connie Pillich claimed victory in the race for Hamilton County prosecutor. Shortly after 11 p.m., Pillich had more than 51% of the vote over Republican Melissa Powers, according to unofficial results. Pillich described the moment as "monumental and historic."

Voters chose Democrat Connie Pillich to lead the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office. Pillich won about 51% of the vote. Her election breaks a 92-year win streak for Republicans, who have held the prosecutor's office since 1932. It also marks the first time voters have elected a woman to the office.

The race for Hamilton County sheriff is one of the most talked about races in the area leading up to November, with current Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey is running as a Democrat against her old boss, former Sheriff Jim Neil.

Pillich, a Democrat, defeated Republican incumbent Melissa Powers, who was appointed to the seat in January 2023 after former prosecutor Joe Deters was appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court.

Connie Pillich has won the Hamilton County prosecutor’s race, with 100 percent of the precincts reporting on the Hamilton County Board of Elections website.
