In an order dated December 23, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation says the airline initiated the process of providing compensation to the passengers concerned only after the regulator issued a show cause notice,

Although the airline arranged an alternate flight for the passengers, it was scheduled more than an hour after the original departure time. Additionally, Akasa Air failed to provide compensation, as required under Civil Aviation Rules.

The DGCA has fined Akasa Rs 10 lakh for not compensating seven passengers who were denied boarding on a Bengaluru-Pune flight on Sept 6, 2024. Akasa grounded the original plane, and the replacement had non-operational seats.
