Day 3 of competition in St. John's had an added challenge for Canada Games participants and organizers as some competition venues had to be changed on short notice due to evacuation alerts just outside the city.

The Newfoundland and Labrador government has asked roughly 13,000 people near St. John’s, N.L., to prepare to flee a nearby wildfire. Smoke from the swiftly growing fire near Paddy’s Pond was clearly visible from the provincial capital.
