Bonaventure Cemetery will welcome the remains of a native WWII fighter killed in combat on Friday, the city announced.
Bonaventure Cemetery, created in 1846, sits on acres of the former Bonaventure Plantation site. The City of Savannah later purchased it in 1907 and is one of five cemeteries that the city owns.
Though established as a private cemetery in 1846, the City of Savannah purchased Bonaventure in 1907, making it a space for everyone to enjoy.
