Version 4.3 of Unreal Engine has added a variety of new features, including support for Apple’s Metal API.

Microsoft's DirectStorage API support is coming to Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) sometime in the future. The development was confirmed by an Epic Games employee during a recent Q&A session.

The engine’s API layer is augmented with language bindings for popular scripting and data-processing languages, such as Python and JavaScript, enabling rapid prototyping and tool development.

Epic Games today announced Unreal Engine 4.3, the latest version of their gaming engine technology, which includes over 500 updates.
