Mike Patrick, a 36-year play-by-play announcer for ESPN, died of natural causes on Sunday. Patrick was 80 years old. Patrick’s doctor, as well as the City of Clarksburg, West Virginia, confirmed the longtime broadcaster’s death on Tuesday.

Mike Patrick, who voiced decades of NFL coverage for ESPN along with college football, basketball, and baseball, has passed away.

The versatile play-by-play man was a George Washington University alum and spent several years at D.C. station WJLA before joining ESPN in 1982.
