Create an HTML file. Open a new file in a text-editing program; On a Windows computer, you can use Notepad, which creates a new file automatically when you open it.
By default, Word 2016, as well as Word 365, saves the page with a ".htm" file extension, but you can change this to ".html" if you prefer. Both extensions work as HTML files.
