This is the type of thing that Futurama fans love, and “2-D Blacktop” even made the link between this and the rest of the episode relevant.

The interaction with the 2-D people was also really enjoyable, the sequence saving what seemed to be a lacklustre episode. And it was nice for Minx to get a call from her dad at the end. Thumbs up.

In some ways, "Fry and Leela's Big Fling" suffered the opposite problem of the premiere. Where "2-D Blacktop" featured a solid and entertaining third act, this episode just kind of fizzled out.
