Long-serving Blue Peter editor Biddy Baxter, who turned the children's show into a television institution, has died at the age of 92.

For 26 years, from 1962 until her retirement in 1988, Biddy edited Blue Peter, the twice-weekly magazine show which has been 'enjoyed, imitated, talked about, mocked, criticised, revered', in the words of Richard Marson who wrote the book Biddy Baxter: The Woman Who Made Blue Peter.

Legendary television producer Biddy Baxter, who is best known for her work on Blue Peter, has died at the age of 92. baxter’s death was announced by Ten Acre Films on Facebook, with a post that paid tribute to Baxter as a ‘true pioneer’.
