GitHub has announced that its secret scanning alerts service is now generally available to all public repositories and can be enabled to detect leaked secrets across an entire publishing history.
To toggle on secret scanning alerts for free public repositories, you have to go through the following steps: On GitHub.com, navigate to the main page of the repository.
The secrets scanning service will be available to all users by the end of January, and mandatory 2FA will be in place by the end of 2023, GitHub said.
