Over a weekend when President Donald Trump secretly invoked the centuries-old Alien Enemies Act to speed up some deportations and a federal judge abruptly stopped him from doing so, Trump administration officials claim they sent more than 200 suspected gang members to a new mega-prison in El Salvador.

By Ted Hesson WASHINGTON -More than 200 alleged members of a Venezuelan gang have been deported by the U.S. and sent to El Salvador where they were taken to a high-security prison, the Salvadoran president said on Sunday.

President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador announced that his country had taken in more than 200 prisoners whom the U.S. has accused of being part of the Tren de Aragua gang.
