Light smoke has been reported at the Vistra Battery Facility in Moss Landing. Monterey County officials say the smoke appears to be coming from the previously burned area within the Vistra Moss Landing Lithium-Ion Battery facility. It's been nearly a month since a large fire swept through the facility.

Monterey County residents near Moss Landing were told late Tuesday to close their windows and doors overnight after a fire broke out at the Vistra Energy lithium-ion battery storage facility near the Moss Landing Harbor.

The fire at the Vistra Battery Facility storage plant brought a Tuesday night warning from Monterey County’s emergency warning system that residents near the Moss Landing Harbor needed to remain indoors and close windows.

A new fire flared up at the Moss Landing battery plant in Monterey Tuesday evening, weeks after a previous blaze forced evacuations in the Monterey Bay area. At about 6:30 p.m. county officials reported light smoke emanating from the Vistra Battery Facility that burned late last month.
