A man thought to be a citizen of Bangladesh was arrested in India's financial capital Mumbai on Sunday and is considered the prime suspect in the stabbing of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, police said.

Saif Ali Khan, who is currently in the hospital, was stabbed multiple times in the intervening night on Wednesday and Thursday this week. He sustained six injuries, including one near the spine. The actor had to undergo an emergency surgery. Doctors say he is “out of danger". He may be discharged from the hospital by Monday.

A man was arrested from Thane in the wee hours of Sunday for allegedly attacking actor Saif Ali Khan in his house, Mumbai Police said.
