Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has asked for documentation about two North Texas school districts’ policies related to transgender student athletes.

Paxton’s letters to both districts are based on secretly recorded videos suggesting Dallas and Irving ISD officials may have violated a 2022 Texas law requiring public school students compete in athletic competitions based on their biological sex only.

The Texas attorney general’s office requested documents Tuesday from Dallas ISD and Irving ISD after employees of each were recorded by an activist group.

In a press release from Paxton's office, he said letters were sent to the superintendents of both districts "after the office was made aware that officials at Dallas and Irving ISD had given parents alarming recommendations that could potentially reflect an unstated policy of not upholding Texas state law protecting women’s athletics.
