The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially nominated Mariah Carey, The White Stripes and more for induction in 2025. The Cleveland-based museum confirmed on Wednesday, February 12, that 14 nominees in total will be on its ballot this year,

Notably, all invitees must fall into one of five categories: performers, non-performers, early influences, and lifetime achievement with – as late as 2000 – a final category, musical excellence (initially christened ‘sidemen’) being added in order to mop up all the amazing lesser-known session players, that have made music possible over the years.

Mariah Carey and OutKast have earned a nomination to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2025 Class.

"It's a moment where people open their ears as we did when we were kids and listened to the Rolling Stones and the Eagles."

The late R&B singer was the original frontman of The Impressions, a musical group that he co-founded with Curtis Mayfield.

The 83 year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, perhaps best known for mega hits like “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Sound of Silence” and “America,” made the announcement on Tuesday as he referenced his “Quiet Celebration Tour” in an Instagram post.
