Eight people were killed and 17 others injured in a stabbing attack on a college campus in eastern China on Saturday, police said — the latest in a recent spate of attacks that has shaken a nation long used to low rates of violent crime.

A mass stabbing at the Wuxi Vocational College of Arts and Technology in Jiangsu Province, eastern China, left 8 people dead and 17 wounded. Police apprehended the 21-year-old suspect at the scene, stating he acted out of personal grievances related to failing an exam and not receiving his graduation certificate.

Dozens of people have been killed in China in the past three months in a series of mass attacks using vehicles or knives.
