Burn bans have been lifted in two East Texas counties but remain in effect in others. Upshur and Marion counties lifted their bans Thursday after light rainfall in the region. However, Upshur County Judge Todd Tefteller said the burn ban there could be reinstated soon and swiftly.

News has reached out to county judges in the remaining counties to see if or when their burn bans will be lifted.

Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt lifted the county’s burn ban Monday morning following a weekend of rainfall. The burn ban was imposed as a result of severe drought and high fire risk. That risk, however, has lowered in parts of East Texas in the past week.

Burn bans were lifted in Monday following a rainy weekend. "At this time, the rain that recently occurred in Sebastian County has been enough to lower the county's fire danger to low," County Judge Steve Hotz stated in a news release issued Monday morning.
