A Dallas police officer was killed Tuesday in a “major accident” in Hunt County, Dallas police officials confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. Officer Gabriel Bixby, 29, was off duty and traveling on a motorcycle when the crash occurred in Royse City, a small city about 30 miles east of Dallas, police officials told The News.

Gabriel Bixby, 29, had served with the department since 2018 and was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.

An 85-year-old driver turned in front of the officer’s motorcycle on a highway in Hunt County, according to Texas DPS.
