Importantly, Maxis confirms that the next major Sims game will be free-to-play and that its base game will include more features than The Sims 4 did at launch, thank goodness.

The Sims series turns 25 next month—fully developed frontal lobe and all—and Maxis has started laying out how it will be celebrating the milestone with new announcements, merch, and game updates.

As of October 18, The Sims 4 base game will be available for all new players to download free of charge on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC and Mac via Origin or Steam.
