With the release of iOS 5 for the iPhone and iPad this fall, Apple will bring the Nitro JavaScript engine to full-screen Web applications saved to a user's home screen.

Web apps saved to the home screen for direct access, however, did not. Those apps run in a separate process called Web.app, which wasn't able to take advantage of the Nitro engine.
