OutKast have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the first time in their career. They are the only Hip Hop act among the 14 potential inductees in the 2025 class, including Mariah Carey, Soundgarden, The White Stripes and influential British bands such as Oasis, Joy Division and New Order.

The 2025 nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were revealed early Wednesday (Feb. 12) morning. Of the 14 nominees who appear on this year’s ballot, only some of them (likely about half) will be inducted into the institution later this year as the Rock Hall’s Class of 2025.

The late R&B singer was the original frontman of The Impressions, a musical group that he co-founded with Curtis Mayfield.

The 83 year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, perhaps best known for mega hits like “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Sound of Silence” and “America,” made the announcement on Tuesday as he referenced his “Quiet Celebration Tour” in an Instagram post.

Phish is off to a very strong start after one week of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan voting. The jam band kings have gotten 101,157 fan votes since they were announced as one of 14 nominees for the class of 2025.
