Python saw a whopping increase of 9.3% in the Tiobe popularity index during 2024, despite already being rated the most popular programming language.
Python climbed to fourth place in this month’s Tiobe Index, which gauges language popularity based on a formula assessing language searches in search engines like Google, Bing, and Wikipedia.
“It is likely that it is Python’s next step to become the most popular programming language ever,” wrote TIOBE Software CEO Paul Jansen in the monthly release of the TIOBE Index.
For October 2024, Python continues to reign as the most popular programming language, growing by +7.08 percent in the past month and holding a 21.90 percent market share.
