Move over, Oracle Java. Downloads of the Eclipse Foundation’s Temurin Java SE binaries have more than doubled year over year, to more than 12 million downloads per month, Eclipse said on March 14.

Asked by Google's lead attorney, Robert Van Nest, if the Java language is free, Ellison was slow to respond. Judge William Alsup pushed Ellison to answer with a yes or no.

This dramatic shift has seen Oracle's Java market share steadily decrease from 75% in 2020 to 42% in 2023.
