A waiver issued by the Department of Homeland Security allows the federal government to bypass environmental regulations and begin construction immediately on stretches of the border wall in Southern California.

The Trump administration will waive dozens of environmental laws and regulations to construct new barriers and roads along the nation’s border with Mexico. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem issued a notice in the Federal Register announcing her agency will target about 10 miles of the nation’s southern border near San Diego.
