"The Wizard of Oz" will be showcased at the Sphere in Las Vegas in a new, cutting-edge experience for the nearly 90-year-old film.

The new experience leverages Sphere Entertainment Co.’s Big Sky camera technology, as highlighted in June by 8 News Now, to produce images meant for Sphere’s unique stage. Filming for “From the Edge” is in progress worldwide in locations such as Jordan, Dubai, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Austin, Maui, and Las Vegas.

Classic film "The Wizard of Oz" will be transformed into "a fully immersive experience" when it plays at the Las Vegas Sphere on Aug. 28, the venue announced Friday.
