Kelly Clarkson was once again absent from her hosting gig on her talk show during Tuesday’s episode (April 1). Guest host Kal Penn took the reins during the episode, and he didn’t offer any explanation for her absence.

Guest hosts filled in for her as sources told Entertainment Tonight that Kelly was away dealing with an undisclosed "family emergency." She returned to the show on March 18 after 10 episodes but notably did not share why she was out.
