Once enabled, you set it up to send a six digit code for authentication purposes to your cell phone. Select your main phone’s number and not a Google Voice number that is tied to your account.

Look for the section called 2-step verification, and click on the Set Up link. You’ll be able to choose whether to have a code texted to you, use an authenticator app, or use a security key.
