Java used to be deeply embedded in OS X, but in recent versions of the OS it's an optional install. Here is how to check to see if it is installed, and how to disable or remove it.

Click on the "Verify Java version" button to check which version of Java your computer currently has installed and whether or not you need to update it. Click the "Verify Java version" button.

To check which version of Java you're running, you'll need to use Windows 10's Command Prompt app. The Command Prompt can seem intimidating at first, but if you know what to type, you'll be fine.
