Bell has the chance Sunday to become the first driver since Jimmie Johnson in 2007 to win four consecutive Cup Series races — an accomplishment that only eight drivers have achieved in the modern era of NASCAR that began in 1972.

As Bell worked to build results, Kyle Larson, who also had come from the dirt ranks and been a rival to Bell, was dominating in Cup. On the way to a 10-win season and the championship, Larson won three races in a row. He was the last Cup driver to do that before Bell’s feat.

It was only the 29th occasion where a driver won three consecutive races in the NASCAR Cup Series, and the first since the introduction of the Next Gen car in 2022. Winning three races in a row in NASCAR is a good omen, as drivers have gone on to win the championship 12 times after scoring a threat-peat.
