SAN DIEGO (KABC) -- Another brush fire erupted Wednesday morning in San Diego County, prompting evacuation orders. The so-called Center Fire was reported at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday in the Rancho Bernardo community near Bernardo Center Drive and Camino del Norte and had the potential to burn up to 100 acres, authorities said.

The Border 2 Fire erupted in the Otay Mountain Wilderness on January 25, 2025, quickly burning over 6,000 acres and prompting evacuation orders across the region. First reported as a small 10-acre blaze on Thursday afternoon,

Still prohibited from returning to their homes due to the conflagration, dubbed the Border 2 Fire, were residents of areas east and south of Otay Lakes Road.

Amid a few fire-scorched weeks in Southern California, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors will hear a presentation Tuesday on the county’s emergency preparedness and response efforts.
