The United States and the United Kingdom looked set on Thursday to be picked by FIFA next year as hosts of Women’s World Cups that will be expanded to 48 teams from 32.

The United Kingdom’s 2035 Fifa Women’s World Cup bid is the only “valid” application, according to Fifa. The organisation’s chief Gianni Infantino admitted at the Fifa Congress that it’s the “one valid bid” following the submission deadline.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the United States-Mexico and the United Kingdom are the sole respective bidders for the 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups.
