The aircraft struck two vehicles and a trailer as it came down at the Pomona Dragstrip during the National Hot Rod Association Drag Racing finals.

The crash happened Sunday along the 2700 block of Fairplex Drive as thousands of spectators watched the races.

With speeds over 300 miles per hour, accidents at drag racing’s highest level are only comparable to plane crashes. Fans saw that comparison firsthand when a single-engine Piper PA-32 crashed into an RV lot at Pomona Raceway during the NHRA Finals on Sunday.
