Sasaki eliminated the San Diego Padres and will choose between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, the report claims.

An overwhelming expectation throughout the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes has been the Japanese phenom would ultimately decide between signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers or San Diego Padres.

The Blue Jays announced on Friday that they've obtained outfielder Myles Straw, cash, and international bonus signing pool space from the Guardians in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

The Padres have dropped out on the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes and MLB fans are speculating that the Dodgers will win the race.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report predicts that Los Angeles will ultimately be the ones to sign him. "This is a boring pick, given that the Dodgers have most often been Sasaki's favorite throughout this process. But that isn't even why they're also the sensible pick," Rymer wrote.

The Padres will sign left-hander and international amateur free agent Carlos Alvarez, according to The Athletic's Will Sammon. That's an intriguing development given that the Padres are considered one of the three finalists (alongside the Dodgers and Blue Jays) in the running for Japanese ace Roki Sasaki.
