Thursday Databricks launched SQL Analytics, the company’s new software for running SQL analytic workloads directly on huge stores of unorganized, often unstructured data known as data lakes.

In launching Lakebase, Ghodsi took aim at “traditional transaction” databases such as the Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, the MySQL database (also owned by Oracle) and others.
