The "out of control" Wesley Ridge fire has grown to 511 hectares. Almost 400 properties are on evacuation order in the area. The B.C. Wildfire Service says it has had a "pretty successful" day setting up structure protection.

Nearly 400 properties on Vancouver Island, as well as a provincial park, have been ordered evacuated due to a wildfire burning out of control. The Regional District of Nanaimo expanded its evacuation order related to the fire burning on the north banks of Cameron Lake, about 60 kilometres from the City of Nanaimo.

The BC Wildfire Service says a blaze burning out of control on Vancouver Island had “limited growth” overnight, but it’s still unknown when the more than 400 people forced to evacuate will be able to return home.
