A U.S. Army armored vehicle swallowed by a Lithuanian bog with four American soldiers on board was pulled free Monday after a major five-day international recovery operation, authorities in Vilnius said.

Recovery crews are closer to hoisting the Hercules armored recovery vehicle that was carrying four U.S. Army soldiers before they went missing last week.

Lithuanian officials say a U.S. armored vehicle that went missing during a training exercise has been retrieved from a swamp after a six-day search but there is still no information about the fate of the four American soldiers who were on board.

The soldiers were in a vehicle that became trapped in a bog during a training mission last week. A fourth soldier was still missing.

The search for a fourth soldier is ongoing in a swampy bog near Pabradė, where they were taking part in military drills.
